serveurDEDIE measures connectivity to UK operators from its multi-connected hosting center in Washington DC, USA. We publish monthly and yearly reports available online with a subscription. If you are not familiar with our reports, please check our methodology and interpretation notes. The TBS computation unit is a corrected transmitted packet rate which takes into account unavailability.
This report is based on the first 6-months measurements (Oct 1999 - Mar 2000) for UK. A 2000 report will be available in early 2001. Operators selected for this analysis are: PSInet-UK, UUnet-UK, Demon, BT-UK, VBCnet, Technocom, INSnet-EU, Cable-Internet, GX-Networks, CWCI, Netcom-UK, Intensive, Freedom2surf, Easynet-UK, Ftech, U-Net, Nildram, Cerbernet, Janet, Colt-UK, XTML, Claranet-UK, Inweb
If you are a UK operator and would like to be part of these measurements, see here
The silver medal is granted to Janet, the network for the education and research community. Janet outperforms its European counterparts. Such a high level performance is worth noticing. Janet is a Teleglobe customer for its transatlantic connectivity.
The bronze medal is granted to Nildram Ltd (AS6728). It is worth noticing Nildram is an Internap customer.
After those 3 performance leaders, our chart lists 10 good quality operators that score over 97 point average. Namely: U-Net, UUnet-UK, Cerbernet, Netcom-UK, Claranet-UK, Easynet-UK, VBCnet, BT-UK, INSnet-EU, Inweb
Below 97 points average, we find a list of operators providing medium quality from our hosting center. We recommand users to avoid operators that score less that 96 points average. In this round this would be Cable-Internet and Demon.
Commercial usage of those results require the acquisition of a licence. Data protected under the french copyright and database laws.
